Nate Ferraro

Title
Deputy Head, Theory Department
Bio/Description

Nate Ferraro’s research focuses on understanding the macroscopic equilibrium and stability properties of magnetized fusion plasmas, including Edge Localized Modes and Disruptions in tokamaks. He is the lead developer of M3D-C1, a parallel, finite-element code for whole-facility multiphysics simulations centered on a magnetohydrodynamic plasma model. Dr. Ferraro received his BA from Dartmouth College and his PhD from Princeton University, before working at General Atomics as a postdoctoral fellow and staff scientist. Since 2015 he has been a member of the PPPL Theory department, where he presently serves as the Deputy Head.
